Proudly Part Of The Community Of Sydney Catholic Schools

Principal's MessageWelcome to St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School Rosebery, where children and families thrive in a vibrant educational and faith community.

At St Joseph’s, we are proud to offer a contemporary educational environment designed to support the learning growth and wellbeing of every child. Since opening our doors in 2023, we’ve welcomed our students into dynamic learning hubs where student learning, collaboration, creativity, and strong relationships flourish.

Our spaces are thoughtfully designed with learning in mind— whole class areas, presentation areas, maker spaces, collaboration hubs, and quiet work zones all equip our students with the knowledge and skills they need for success both in school and beyond.

Before and after school care is available in our school hall. St Joseph’s Preschool and Long Day Care Centre is located on site to cater for the high demand for childcare locally. St Joseph’s Rosebery Church is also on-site, ensuring education and care in a faith-based environment will be available from Preschool to Year 6.

We are currently welcoming enrolments for Kindergarten to Year 2 in 2025, expanding to Kindergarten to Year 3 in 2026.

Proudly Part of the Community of Sydney Catholic Schools

Our school is part of a system of 147 low-fee Catholic schools in the Sydney Archdiocese.

Sydney Catholic Schools are thriving Catholic communities that ignite a love of Christ through excellent teaching and learning to empower students to reach their full potential.

St Joseph was a parent of courage and faith, who with Mary loved and cared for God’s only Son. Creative and daring when presented with a challenge, he worked hard and lived humbly. His example inspires us to live the Gospel and grow closer to God in faith and love.

This morning we gathered at the Shrine of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Waterloo, as the Parish of Sydney City South with Fr Paul, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Primary School Waterloo and parishioners to celebrate the Feast of the Assumption. Holy Mary, pray for us. #stjrosebery #faithloveknowledge #SydneyCatholicSchools

This morning, the children from SCECS and the youngest members of our St Joseph’s community came together for Tender Tales. We enjoyed singing, praying and reading The Tiny Seed and then got creative making our very own trees!

Just as Jesus taught that “the kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed”—small at first, but growing into something wonderful—today reminded us that even the smallest seeds of faith, friendship, and learning can grow into something beautiful when nurtured with love. #SydneyCatholicSchools #creatingfutures #stjrosebery #parishofsydneycitysouth

This week we celebrated the Feast Day of St Mary MacKillop of the Cross, Australia’s first saint and a woman of deep faith, courage and compassion. Afterwards, parents, carers and parishioners joined us in honouring her legacy — and enjoyed some delicious shortbread in recognition of her Scottish heritage. We are truly blessed to have Sr Rosemary in our parish, a Josephite Sister, whose order was founded by St Mary MacKillop herself. Her presence is a living link to the saint’s mission of service, love and education.

    “Never see a need without doing something about it.” — St Mary MacKillop 💜 💛 #SydneyCatholicSchools #creatingfutures #stjrosebery #parishofsydneycitysouth

Oral History Project: Our Parish, Our Stories

Are you interested in sharing your story or helping record the stories of others?

Are you an ex-studnet of St Joseph's Catholic Primary School?

We are launching a Parish History Project to capture and preserve the stories of our Parish community. This is an opportunity to come together, share our gifts and our stories and celebrate our history. Whether you’re interested in interviewing, recording audio, transcribing, organising and documenting archives, web design or simply listening and learning, there is a place for you. NO PRIOR EXPERIENCE NEEDED just a love of listening and learning.

This journey begins with a private Workshop run by Oral History NSW. Come along and learn how to gather and preserve the rich history of our parish.

    WORKSHOP:
    INTRODUCTION TO ORAL HISTORY
    (with Oral History NSW)

    Sunday, August 17th 2025

    2pm to 4pm

    Parish Office, St Joseph, Rosebery

    SPACES LIMITED, RSVP NOW!

We are very fortunate to have Eureka Henrich as our presenter for this session. Eureka is a historian of migration, memory and health, with a particular interest in postwar migration to Australia. For many years Eureka led the University of Hertfordshire Oral History Team, which brought staff, students and community together to undertake training and record local memories. Most recently she has interviewed a dozen Australian historians as part of the Australian Historical Association 50th Anniversary project.

All are welcome. For more information or if you would like to discuss contact Michelle & Ruth in the Parish Office.

Our year 1 & 2 students attended the play “Imagine Live” at the Seymour Centre.
The play is based on Australian author Alison Lester’s bestselling book which our students enjoy reading at home, in our library and in the classroom.
They had a wonderful time exploring the themes of creativity, friendships and the natural world.
