By connecting to the real world of students’ lives, authentic learning enables students to become lifelong learners who contribute to society and the wider world as active and discerning citizens. Authentic learning is central to our work as Catholic educators because it promotes the continual growth and wellbeing of the whole person — spiritually, intellectually, emotionally, socially and physically.
Our learning approach at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School Rosebery is as follows.
Strive
Students are encouraged to strive in all areas of learning and use their imagination. We provide students with rich learning experiences where students are able to work collaboratively and become risk takers. At St Joseph’s we strongly believe great learning will support students both intellectually and mentally.
Serve
Catholic faith at St Joseph’s is very important. The whole community is encouraged to provide good service to others. We are called to know students and encourage them to follow the example of Jesus.
Achieve
Staff analyse data effectively to guide teaching decisions. Teachers work collaboratively in consultation with the literacy and numeracy coach to design effective teaching programs. We encourage all students to become creative and work to achieve their full potential. Students are always encouraged to use their voice and make choices, which will help them and support their learning.
